Several Random Smatterings

General Babble

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my feed or subscribe to me on Twitter, which is updated on a more frequent - and more meaningless - basis.

I’ll be busy most of the week and will be away this upcoming weekend, but before I go, some random mentions…

- The IMNY is having a charity party during SMX tomorrow. If you’re around, check it out and give them some love (and cash).

- I won’t be around this weekend because I am headed to Cincinnati to see UFC 77: Hostile Territorywe’ve been saying for quite a while that we wanted to hit one up in person and finally decided to go. We kind of purchased tickets late, so they’re not floor, but they’re certainly not bad either. Also plan to hook up with the other UFC nut from the seo world while I’m there since he is attending as well.

- For those who don’t know, I am a huge fan of Guitar Hero (I think calling me an “addicted crazed maniac” is a little unfair though… you know who you are). Guitar Hero III is due out this month and I am beyond pumped. My buddy Devo thinks Stairway to Heaven will end up being the finale. I think it is the most likely possibility, though, with Slash being involved, I might also place a small side wager on November Rain (if you somehow know the answer, please do *not* post it in my comments, I would like to be surprised).

- I’ve stepped down as a moderator from Sphinn. I think the site and concept is awesome - we’ve needed a Digg clone for the seo world for a long time. And the group of moderators over there are top notch and I’m lucky to call several of them good friends. I simply didn’t have the time to stay involved, though I think the site is going to do awesome and wish I *could* have fit the time in my schedule to work with Danny.

- For the record, Feedburner is no better at handling redirects than their owners historically have been. I really wish they’d fucking fix their issues. We need more competition in this space to keep them on their toes.

- I think I’m finally starting to “get” Twitter (I can hear Marc screaming “yay!” while hopping up and down from the west coast right now).

- Having 14 six and seven year olds in your house for three hours on Sunday for a birthday party tests your patience, sanity and agility. The nap I took after it was over was well needed and well deserved.

- My friend Jamie introduced me to Singstar last week. Not only does it rock, but their eighties edition is fucking awesome. Me and my friend Ashley had dinner at my place this week and sang to it for four hours until our voices literally didn’t work anymore.

I think that’s about it. I wouldn’t expect a post from me until sometime next week. If you want my advice, in the meantime, read (or re-read) my guide to successful affiliate marketing in the new age and implement at least one thing from it. It works. Seriously people. ;-)

***Edited to add: I am also making some changes re: advertising items on the site. I like to test, what can I say…

Lot of duds on that card. I mean Silva walks over Franklin again (hopefully in spectacular fashion), plus a bunch of fluff, plus… Ooh wait, a good one…

Vera v. Sylvia could prove fun/interesting, plus they both have that permanent bit of belly flab that screams “ATHELETE” at the top of its lungs.

Seriously, that one has some potential for a damn entertaining fight. Have fun!

I dunno who I’m taking in the Vera vs. Sylvia, but I do know that my money is on Franklin. I hate Silva… love watching anyone whomp him, but I think Franklin can actually do it (no matter how many people laugh at me for thinking it).

Seriously, Franklin? Guess you’ll know soon enough. Have fun tonight!

My wife almost got me tickets to the last one in Manchester, but still haven’t seen one in person.
