Predictions for 2007 and a Gnome Alert

So, I got tagged by Kim while I was away for New Years to give my predictions for 2007. I said in an interview recently that I’d have more luck predicting celebrity break ups for the year than what will happen in an industry as volatile as ours.
But, I’ll give it a sort of tongue in cheek shot for the most part… up to you to figure out which parts are which. ;-)
1. Arbitrage will lose a lot of gusto after being on a slight decline in 2006. I hope people have been saving their profits and re-investing in different strategies.
2. Welcome to the year of Restaurantica. I wish Ry a ton of luck with his expansion into the United States and expect him to give the current players a run for their money by repeating the success he’s had in Ontario.
I also predict that Googlers will find the Mountain View restaurants category very addictive and spend a lot of time reading and writing reviews, keeping them occupied and slowing down anti-spam efforts.
3. A good majority of people will actually stop basing their link development efforts solely on pagerank and finally meet up with those of us who stopped doing so in 2003.
4. I think Facebook will start emerging as a prime social networking choice for the over 20 crowd. I always hated Myspace but I’m a fanatical Facebook user.
People have asked me why I like it so much better… better features, a lack of ability to put horrid graphics and machine freezing midis on the pages and it seems a bit more secure and networking friendly to me. Plus, photo capabilities, event capabilities – for various reasons, Facebook is a social networking site I actually use. I think it’s the Myspace for the 20-30 generation and expect to see it pick up steam.
5. X17Online will blow the roof off this year. I stumbled across this site as an infant with a shit design, no ads and great content. They’ve been trying to figure themselves out with some design changes and monetization efforts. If they can stop with the cat fighting and get with the publicizing, SEO and link *marketing* efforts, I think they have the ability to become the premier site in the celebrity blogging industry.
If they’d like a little bit of complimentary SEO advice, they can easily figure out which celebs make me weak in the knees. ;-)
Sorry, that’s all I’ve got. I’m not worried much about what other people are doing this year. I’m not ashamed to admit this year, *I* am my major focus.
Had a blast on New Years Eve and thanks to Wayne for having a kick ass party. And whoever stole the damn arm from the gnome better return that thing. How can it fend off the frog trying to lick its ass without it? ;-)
Oh, last prediction… I’m with the facebook stalker, this is the last meme for a long time…

I so hope you’re reading superficial.com the wise-ass snarky commentary make me ROFLMGDAO in a way most celebrity blogs are unable to.
And did you know facebook has a toolbar now …
Wait, MG, you’re a celeb gossip whore too?!?!?! How many places can one man possibly whore himself? ;-)
[...] Since my facebook stalker status has been exposed I figure that’s the perfect time for me to totally pimp myself for some firefox swag. So if you’re not a facebook user sign up. If you’re not a firefox user download it. Now make your journey into the light like Carroll Ann and join the Firefox Facebook group. Why, because facebook is not as eye bleedingly difficult to look at as myspace. Also even though there are some spammer’s lurking about they aren’t spamming yet. Lastly well if you sign up and I get the most referrals for the month I win some firefox stuff. Did I mention you also get to be my facebook friend? [...]
Do you really believe in predictions. I believe in the work, they come running after you, the results. :)
[...] At the beginning of the year, I did a meme I had been tagged for by Kim for predictions for the new year. One of the predictions I made was the following: “I think Facebook will start emerging as a prime social networking choice for the over twenty crowd. I always hated Myspace but I’m a fanatical Facebook user. [...]
[...] to check Facebook’s traffic standings” and did a quick check on Alexa. Sure enough, as I predicted about this time last year, Facebook (now six) has eclipsed MySpace (now seven), albeit slightly, [...]
[...] last year, I said how I thought x17online - one of my favorite celeb gossip haunts - would be doing big things in oh seven (where their traffic has slowly, but steadily climbed). I’ve been bitching about [...]
