You have a compelling argument for Facebook on a personal level. I wonder if there is a compelling argument to use Facebook as a business tool. This is what I am thinking about. Would Facebook be a time dump for my company?

Yeah this is a great article. Facebook has been awesome although they knocked back my first attempt to advertise with them.

I have been reading your blog for a few days now and love your stuff. Would it be ok if I put a link from my blog to yours so my readers can come here to.

thanks for the great info on facebook. i’ve been hearing about them for some time now, mostly on tv when some perv is caught trying to lure teens to meet up with them.

i’ve had a myspace page up for a couple of years to show off my cat artwork, but generally i don’t like myspace for the reasons you mentioned. i will check out facebook. thanks.

I’ll stick with Myspace. I guess you never learned how to tweak the settings on your myspace profile. I also hear that ads on facebook don’t convert at all.

Myspace almost soured me forever against social networking sites but I got duped into joining facebook. I agree with you that it is immensely superior. You forgot to mention a couple things. Its search function is far better than myspace because of its geographical focus that begins with your networks, making it so much easier to find the people who are connected to you; I have found so many more people I know on facebook in spite of the fact that it is supposedly smaller. Second, its got some cool apps and toys that are all as neat and clean as the rest of the site (at least as far as I’ve seen). Above all, thanks for the great discussion about its marketing potential – …interesting….

Your article was interesting, but I need more convincing. My initial impression of facebook was that it was a student/young alumni networking site. Once a person is out of that age group, what does it have to offer?

I’m way out of the target demographic for any of these social media sites, but I’ve had alot of fun with myspace. I surf for common interests (like bossa nova music) and become friends with the people I find. I went to a rat pack weekend in Vegas last month that I found out about on myspace.

I really hate the myspace layouts and blinky things, but I try to ignore it. If somone sends me too much junk I delete them.
