I Now Know What a Corporate Kick Me Sign Looks Like

by Rae Hoffman on November 10, 2006 | General Babble

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my feed or subscribe to me on Twitter, which is updated on a more frequent - and more meaningless - basis.

So, I was up a bit late tonight getting ahead on some things prior to PubCon and a friend IM’s me with a video clip.

Now, I’m all one for company spirit. And I can see getting excited over a merger, especially if it brings financial benefit to you personally, and a lot of it. But, never, in my life, would a company event - a bank merger no freaking less - make me want to cover, re-word and emotionally belt into a microphone singing “One” (in public anyway - and something much fucking better than “One”, ugh)…

Vimeo sucks ass and took it down.
Thank goodness YouTube has a copy.

But, apparently, that guy doesn’t feel the same. ;-) There is no *way* he is not the office joke for the next two months. Shit, I’d make fun of him and I wasn’t even there to see the whole circus live.

Sugarrae runs on the Thesis WordPress Theme

Thesis WordPress theme

If you’re someone who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality that you wouldn’t be able to obtain otherwise with a simple control panel instead of having to alter code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.

For those "in between", like myself, I’ve created "dummy" guides for Thesis hooks that allow us to make more professional customizations than we ever deemed possible. The theme is not only highly customizable, but it has allowed me to run Sugarrae more professionally, with a much more targeted focus on monetization than it ever has been able to achieve before. You can find out more about Thesis below:

This reeks of something that would happen on an episode of The Office. It also reminds me of Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer jumping around like an idiot.

You are exactly right JB. Actually didn’t The Office do something similar in the last week or so? This is hilarious/sad. He puts so much emotion into it ;-)

That was distressing. I had to turn it off about 4 minutes in when he started working the executives’ names into a verse. It made me… really uncomfortable watching that.

Oh, but wait I remember someone did that at the last G**N xmas party. That’s why it felt familiar. Different song, but the same idea.

I’m inspired now. I’ll rewrite the lyrics for “We Are the World” and get everyone in my department to learn it for the next company gathering.

but only if you’ll back me up, rae

If I was a marketing exec for a bank, and got to wear a bad suit all day, I suspect I’d be a little nuts too. ;-)

On a different note I really can’t see Bono supporting something like that.

All timestamps on comments for this post are wrong due to a hand transfer to the new design. Except this one. ;-)
