Good Times, Good Friends, Another WITS

by Rae Hoffman on April 11, 2006 | Conferences

So, I had a whole *damn* blog post written out for this and as I went to plug in my laptop from the low battery warning, it somehow goes back a page and kills everything. Great. Fucking blog. Sigh. So, I’m sorry, this one isn’t going to have as much “gusto” as the last one, but I’m pissed and the moment has passed. LOL.

As I mentioned before, a few of us started off the week in Las Vegas. We (me, Nick, Keith and Champagne Jimmy and Jake) went downtown to old Las Vegas for dinner and upon arriving late (big surprise there), we had to find something to do for four hours until we could get another table.

So, off to Binions we went and secured a blackjack table and proceeded to play insanely for three hours (can we say Keith was doubling down on 19?). I guess you can tell there may have been a wee bit of drinking occuring at some point. ;-)

The next day we hopped on a private jet from Las Vegas to San Diego…

And yes, it was awesome. ;-) We hit San Diego and did a lot of drinking and a lot of networking. Fun times, fun times. We had dinner and did the official WITS poker championship as usual. This years winner was…

the quiet but lethal Chris R who took home the bulk of the 100 dollar per player entry fees. While I didn’t win, I *did* manage to outlast Jimmy – which meant I won our side bet on who would go out first – giving me back my entry fee. Yes, Jimmy, I *did* have to mention that. LOL.

Awesome dinners, awesome times…

We also did the traditional trip to Mexico again and walked the streets of Tijuana after taking a limo to get there (the irony)…

For those of you wanting to see the full set of pics, I’m sure Keith will post them on the site soon. I’ve done my job and sent them off.

All in all, I’m dead and trying to rest up and get some work done before Boston. I also have a pretty nifty interview that I’ll be publishing tomorrow. Until then, I’m off to rest my kidneys. ;-)

Sugarrae runs on the Thesis WordPress Theme

Thesis WordPress theme

If you’re someone who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality that you wouldn’t be able to obtain otherwise with a simple control panel instead of having to alter code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.

For those "in between", like myself, I’ve created "dummy" guides for Thesis hooks that allow us to make more professional customizations than we ever deemed possible. The theme is not only highly customizable, but it has allowed me to run Sugarrae more professionally, with a much more targeted focus on monetization than it ever has been able to achieve before. You can find out more about Thesis below:
