I have an account just because everyone else does but I can't really get into the whole "socialising" thing. If I want to do that I meet people face to face.

I have never thought much about joining the social networking sites. I use them mostly to locate people. However, I think I will create a Facebook account and give it a try. Thanks.

thanks rae, I'll check these out when I have 1/2 hour to spare.

check out my first FB app:
http://apps.facebook.com/randomhaiku/

Others are on the way

There are precious few useful resources on the FB platform... the above app (linkdrop!) was developed within 3 weeks of the API release and involved many hours of frustration. The situation has improved a little and the developers wiki is growing, but building one still involves a lot of PHP hacking and trial-and-error figuring out how things work. I pity anyone trying to build a facebook app who doesn't have good debugging technique.
