The holidays are coming up and this will be my second to last blog post for the year (I have an interview I’ll be publishing Saturday that I *promise* you won’t want to miss). This year was great professionally, but a bit rough personally.
But, there are three mega things I’m thankful for from the last year…
– I had a rougher latter half of the year for personal reasons and many of my closer friendships were put to the test. I found out exactly how much I can count on my friends and I am extremely lucky to have some of the best friends a girl could ask for.
– I was lucky enough to be asked to speak at several industry events and added some more people I’m glad to know to my pool of current friends I’m already grateful for (including those who don’t have personal sites to link to).
– I am blessed to have three beautiful kids who are the loves of my life, even if they drive me absolutely *nuts* on a regular basis. And I am even luckier that the youngest one is now diaper free and speaking clear enough that his sister doesn’t need to translate for him anymore. ;-)
I’ve spent a lot of the last few months getting things in order and thinking things through. I had time to realize that life isn’t always what you expect (my son being the first person to teach me that years ago), but that sometimes things you think are bad turn out to be the best things that could have happened to you. Sometimes it takes a bit of pain to end up with a lot of gain.
I am finally in a place where I’m happy again and looking forward to the New Year. I’ll be heading up to Canada (again) next weekend to ring in the new year with a bunch of my friends. I’m not sorry to say goodbye to this past year, but I’m damn sure looking forward to the next one. Here’s hoping the rest of you are too.
Added: And thanks to my friends who were sweet enough to send me some great Christmas gifts, as well as YPN, webmasterworld, Acclaim Network and my favorite girl from 888.com.

Rae, it has been an honor for me to become part of your circle. You are a strong, passionate woman who can kick the shit out of any dude who even looks at me wrong and I like that about you.
You are the bestest friend a girl could ask for. I am looking forward to partying with you this year ;) 2007 is going to be the best year yet.
im backin what chris said
Rae, you are one of the most inspiring people I’ve met this year. You’re definitely one of a kind - I second (err third) what Chris said. Have a very merry xmas!
Rae,
Even though we haven’t gotten to hang out personally apart from the brief cursory intros, you should know that I’ve really appreciated the grace with which you’re able to give credit where it’s due. I’ve found a couple of really meaningful specialists thanks to some of your recommendations. Keep up the solid work, and blow up even more in ‘07. :)
Rae,
It’s been great getting to know you this year! I wish you and your family happy holidays.
Oh yea, don’t promote GoodRoi too much. It goes to his head!
got to go with the ‘best friends’ thing - 2006 has been a great year - but 2005 was an awful horrendous year for a me and a bunch of close girl friends - each of us suffered untimely deaths of close family all within a couple of months - but we continue to help each other with great times and laughter - and just being there when the bad times hit - and that will stay with us for the rest of our lives- and that is one powerful vibe.
So wish you and your girlfriends a happy, healthy (and let’s not forget wealthy’s quite nice :)) 2007.
Thanks abhilash, glad I could be of some help. :)
Shandy, damn it… you were in the draft of this post… somehow, you got deleted when I was editing the fucked up format it copied in… this post has been edited like 25 times… :(… I’m really not just saying that either… Adam, you were soooo on there.
LOL Elaine… 5 of my six best friends are guys. ;-) But sentiment still applies. :D
Never look back. That’s the lesson I’ve learned over this past year. Another is to stop 2nd guessing myself. But the biggest lesson I learned is that there are real people with hearts of gold in this business. And I’m both blessed and happy to call you friend. Thanks Rae.
I know that 2007 will be a better year for you. Talking to you now, I just know you are in a better place :)
Rae, even though we’ve never met you’re someone I find inspirational - both in a business and personal sense. And I love your kick ass blog design. ;)
Sorry to hear 2006 wasn’t that good. I can understand. Personally it was the shittiest year I think I’ve ever had. I agree with you though, sometimes the worst things that happen to you turn out to be the best in the long run.
Anyway, may 2007 rock for you!
2007 is going to be great. See if you can stay out of trouble for the whole year, OK?
