Randomness and A Plug for the IM-NY Charity Event

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my feed or subscribe to me on Twitter, which is updated on a more frequent - and more meaningless - basis.

I’m on a flight before noon tomorrow and won’t be back until Monday evening. Before I left, I wanted to post some random ramblings and a burning question, but first I want to take a moment to plug the event my guys over the the IM-NY organization are throwing for SES…

It’s a charity even on the Monday night before SES. The basic deal is that you donate 40 bucks at the door and then can drink all you want for three hours. If you’ve been to New York before you know that you aren’t going to find three hours of drinking any cheaper than that (especially with the way this crowd drinks). ;-) The really cool thing about this, in my eyes anyway, is that the event is going to benefit Ronald McDonald House.

I spent a long period of time at the RMH in St. Pete and wouldn’t have gotten through the first few years of my son’s life without the staff and families that were there. I could write sixteen pages on all the reasons they are one of the greatest charities in the world and all of the individual instances in which they supported me through one of the worst times of my life. But, I’ll spare you and simply tell you to get your asses to the event and show some support.

I won’t be in town until Tuesday, so I’m going to need people there showing the support I would have shown in my place. And a big props to my botw boys and to TLA for stepping up to sponsor this. I don’t think I’ve ever met Patrick (of TLA) - and if I have, my apologies - but he has earned a free beer from me in New York.

Alright, I’m done with the sappy shit. Onto my random ramblings…

– I really didn’t expect to start the shit storm that I did with my post on Merchant Circle, but it seemed to put some spotlight onto what I feel are shady business practices and I can’t say I’m sorry that the shitstorm, however unintended, occurred.

– The New York SEO Class went extremely well. We’re all a bit exhausted, but there will be a wrap up post on the SEO Class blog early next week.

– I’ve had a lot of questions in recent weeks about how much it is for a button in my bona fides section. I think the definition of the word is missed by some. Those links are provided for reasons other than money. Look for a post next week explaining that more in detail. At the moment, Sugarrae is a paid advertising free site.

– I was asked for a quote for a new site that launched called Art of Blog. I’ll admit the Sun Tzu theme doesn’t make much sense to me, but then again, I also haven’t read the Art of War.

Greg lies. I was there for this “fau pax” and he didn’t make a misconstrued statement. He said “next time, you should really do something with your hair”. I think any woman reading this will back me up that he is lucky the woman he was speaking to didn’t smack the hell out of him on the spot. The fact that the woman he said this to did not smack him pretty much rules me out as the un-named victim. ;-)

– The wordpress search feature sucks. I did a search for the word “whore” tonight on it to give you guys an update on the everything you ever wanted to know about wordpress whore six month whore campaign and it didn’t return entries I knew (and confirmed) that I had mentioned it it. So, not sure what the problem is, but they should work on that.

– For anyone who cares, he has served a little over three months of his sentence. The recap post in another two months or so should be funny as hell.

And now for the burning question…

I bought my business partner a birthday gift that I’ll be giving him in NY. I told three of our friends about this gift. All I told my business partner was the following two things in regards to the gift:

1. That the gift was a couple hundred dollars or so (long story on why he was told that information)
2. That it had arrived at my home, but I still needed to prepare it before giving it to him.

From those two clues, a day later, he pops up to me and tells me he knows what it is, and guessed correctly. I said bullshit on anyone figuring out what I bought him on those two clues. He says none of the three friends told him and he figured it out himself.

So, do I believe that he really knows my brain that well or is that enough for you, dear readers (haha), to figure it out as well? Or do I hunt someone down for an ass kicking for spilling the beans? ;-)

If I were in the NY area, I would totally pay $40 to be a lush all night!

That IM-NY event is looking to be the best thing going at SES-NY. I’m seriously rethinking my showing up Wednesday.

I was just reading about this event on SEW and I’m SO IN. I wish you were going to be there but who knows…maybe I can buy you a beer later in the week. (I’ve got my own opinions about Furio’s return…he’ll be back!)
