THANK YOU: 2011 Heart and Stroke Walk Success

by Rae Hoffman-Dolan | Administrative

I just wanted to take a quick moment and thank everyone who donated to support me in the 2011 Heart and Stroke Walk here in Houston. This past Saturday, my daughter and I (along with my four month old in his stroller) walked five miles to promote increased awareness of heart disease and stroke.

stroke walkBecause of all the awesome people who donated, I was able to reach my 10,000 dollar goal ($10,026 to be exact).

With your help, I was the sixth highest individual fundraiser in all of Houston. :)

Every donation – be it 5 dollars or 500 dollars was greatly appreciated.

A special thanks to Affiliate Summit, DIYThemes, MicroBrand Media, ADIO Chiropractic, Speedy Incorporation, StudioPress and Raven Tools. You guys made donations that went above and beyond and I truly, TRULY appreciate it. :)

It only takes a $30 dollar donation to provide one health care provider with the specialized training to recognize and treat cardiovascular diseases and stroke in infants and children. My son’s stroke was “missed” fourteen years ago. Because of each and every one of you, some other child will have theirs recognized which will lead to prevention or immediate (and potentially life saving and “quality of life” saving) treatment.

2012 Heart and Stroke Walk

As soon as registration opens for the 2012 walk I will once again begin fundraising efforts. In addition to setting a goal to raise $12,000 dollars for the 2012 walk, I’m also setting a goal to have two friends commit to fundraising for and coming down to Houston to do the walk with me. If you’re interested, shoot me an email and let me know.

Additionally, taking a cue from my fantabulously charitable friend Missy Ward I will be trying to come up with some unique fundraising ideas for the 2012 walk, so keep an eye out. :)

Thank you again – it means the world to me.

Thesis WordPress theme

If you’re someone who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality that you wouldn’t be able to obtain otherwise with a simple control panel instead of having to alter code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.

For those "in between", like myself, I’ve created "dummy" guides for Thesis hooks that allow us to make more professional customizations than we ever deemed possible. The theme is not only highly customizable, but it has allowed me to run Sugarrae more professionally, with a much more targeted focus on monetization than it ever has been able to achieve before. I applaud your support for stroke awareness. I’m recovering from a recent (May) stroke, right now, so I thank you.
