So, I am finally finished traveling for a while. I know that I’m lucky to travel so much, but it can be quite exhausting. Don’t believe me?
Number of flights taken in April: 5
Number of nights I stayed in a hotel in April: 15
The two most recent trips (and why the blog has been dead) were Boston PubCon and SES Toronto. Boston was awesome. Good sessions, great networking and a fabulous party thrown by YPN.
I finally got to meet Kristen (one of YPN’s kick ass crew) along with some other members of YPN…

Me and Kristen at the YPN gala
Found out they had some closet poker players and of course, a challenge for a future game arose. ;-)
I had a little bit of “groupie” ness going on when I met Jeremy Zawodny (complete with heckling for it during the meet from Brad). Forget the fact that he works for Yahoo – do you have any idea how many feed subscribers this man has? Was awesome getting to chat with him a bit.
My link dev clinic went well. I felt kind of bad because the session ended up being more about spotting some of their “questionable” and “obvious” link tactics (as Matt mentioned) that might be doing them harm than suggesting new ones. I’ll be sure to try and center some more suggestions next time for how to replace those that may be red flagging them with those that won’t.
SES Toronto went well. It looked smaller than last year, although I found out later that it was bigger – just in a smaller space, so the appearance was deceiving. I spoke on the linking strategies panel there and thus gave my first presentation at SES. No idea how it went. When I speak from a presentation, I rarely have solid recollection of “how” I did. Got a few compliments afterwards and Chris didn’t throw me off the stage, so I am going to assume it went well. ;-)
So, there you have it. I am taking a day of rest today and then am back to work tomorrow – which also includes back to blogging. Also, you may note the interior pages have been whored up a bit with YPN ads – I’m testing a few things, so bear with me. Oh, and I also lined up some nice interviews – so stay tuned for those as well. Ok, must rest, eat and watch the last two Sopranos I missed (love on demand).

Sugarrae runs on the Thesis WordPress Theme
If you’re someone who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality that you wouldn’t be able to obtain otherwise with a simple control panel instead of having to alter code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.
For those "in between", like myself, I’ve created "dummy" guides for Thesis hooks that allow us to make more professional customizations than we ever deemed possible. The theme is not only highly customizable, but it has allowed me to run Sugarrae more professionally, with a much more targeted focus on monetization than it ever has been able to achieve before. You can find out more about Thesis below:

Welcome back! I know it is real hard flying to all the conferences (even with a private plane helping a bit) now get back to doing real work :) The ypn ads look good.
Welcome back, Rae! It was great to see you again in Boston. I had a blast – thanks for encouraging me to make this one ;-)
Hi Rae, I had the opportunity to see your panel in Toronto. FYI, it was good! You were a breath of fresh air. I wish that you guys had more time, though. I found that to be the case for most of the panels. :)
